In this 9-Days Uganda Gorillas and Zanzibar safari; expect fun, adventure, and relaxation in Africa’s top travel destinations; Uganda and Zanzibar island in Tanzania. You will track the endangered mountain gorillas at Bwindi impenetrable national park; western Uganda, studying their unique behaviors, their body structure, and social setting, as well as the dominant silverback governing the family, the adolescents somersaulting and the mothers feeding their young ones.
Afterwards, you will head for a remarkable experience at Zanzibar where you will relax by the still waters of the Indian Ocean, tour the stone town, spice plantations tour and then track the Zanzibar red Colobus monkeys. This trip starts with a Kampala city tour in Uganda and ends in Zanzibar.
Detailed safari
Day 1: Arrival and Kampala city tour
As you land at Entebbe International Park, our company representative will gladly welcome you to the pearl of Africa, offering you a special place for briefing and sharing a glass of Juice, before embarking on a 1-2 hours’ drive to Kampala city, with an optional stopover at the reptile village to watch different reptiles such as snakes, chameleons, and tortoises among others.
Thereafter, you will proceed to Kampala for lunch, before visiting the Country’s oldest museum to witness some ancient items and cultural symbols, craft village, and local markets to exchange money to local currency as well as buying several other missing items. You will then drive to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay as you wait for the next day’s voyage.
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest
At around 08:00hours, our company driver guide will pick you from your hotel for a smooth drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park, crossing the buzzing streets, rolling hills, and the evergreen vegetation at the countryside, with the local natives waving while bidding you a safe journey.
The journey lasts for 5-6 hours with a lunch hour stopover, and great attractions to admire while listening to the unending exciting vibe from the tour guide. You will arrive at your lodge in the evening, proceeding to refresh and relax while waiting for dinner time before retiring to a cozy bed.
Day 3: Gorilla trekking and Batwa pygmies encounter
Gorilla trekking starts early at 8:00 am with a briefing and document verification by the park rangers who will tell you the dos and don’ts while tracking these Apes, allocate you to a particular Gorilla family before entering the Jungle for the 1-6 hours’ exercise, through thick bushes, hills, and unique tree species, offering asylum to several other primates, and birds.
Upon tracing for the gorillas, you will be given a one-hour allowance to closely watch and study these apes, take photos and ask any questions you may have.
After the exercise, you will head to the lodge for lunch, followed by a 2-3 hours’ visit to the Batwa pygmies; the shortest people in Uganda believed to be among the oldest tribes on earth, for cultural dances, songs, stories and many more. After which you will drive back to the lodge for dinner, followed by a peaceful nap.
Day 4: Leave Bwindi to Entebbe and fly to Zanzibar
After breakfast, you will embark on a 7-8 hours’ drive to Entebbe international airport for a flight to Arusha, Tanzania, but with an en-route stopover at the Equator for photography, lunch and to watch the magical demonstrations at the very point the magical line crosses the world into two.
Upon landing at the airport, you will meet our company representative who will brief you about what Zanzibar has for you, before proceeding for lunch and an evening beach experience. At sunset, you will drive to the lodge for dinner and a nap.
Day 5: Stone town Tour
On this day, you will have a gratifying city tour around the stone town; a UNESCO world heritage site, decorated with the ancient Arab and European architectures, culture, mosques, and cathedrals, but not forgetting the natives of the place carrying on their business.
You will visit the house of wonder, the Zanzibar Museum, the Arab ruins, and many other attractions, besides enjoying lunch in the city. The house of wonder and the cathedrals in particular acted as the main markets for slaves before proceeding to Europe and other parts of the country.
Day 6: Jozani Chwaka forest and spice plantation tour
On this day, you will leave your bed early in the morning for breakfast, followed by an exciting visit to Jozani Chwaka forest for a 3-4 hours’ primate trekking experience where you will spot the unique Zanzibar red Columbus monkeys, together with several other monkeys, birds, and flora.
Thereafter, you will go for lunch, followed by a rewarding spice plantation tour, to see and taste the different spices grown and processed here such as the cinnamon, fruits, vanilla, and ginger among others. You will then have a sunset drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 7-8: Beach relaxation in Zanzibar
Dedicate these two days for full-day beach experience by the calm waters of the Indian Ocean; meditating, taking-in the fresh breeze, enjoying the different kinds of seafood, and participating in several optional activities such as diving, swimming, photograph, boat cruise and kayaking, dhow cruise, dolphin tours, and so much more.
After this unforgettable day, you will have a sunset drive to your lodge for dinner and a nap.
Day 9: Departure
On this day, you will bid farewell to your new friends after breakfast as you check out of the lodge for a drive to the airport for your flight to the next destination.
