Detailed safari

Day 1: Arrival and Arusha City Tour

This is your arrival day, plus a rewarding Arusha city tour after the briefing from the driver-guide. Arusha city tour gives you an opportunity of purchasing some of the missing items, exchange money to local currency, learn a few Swahili words, visit the museum and other historical and monumental destinations in the city and familiarize yourself with the place.

You will also have lunch around town in case time allows, before proceeding to the hotel to rest from the long journey and organize for the coming days; enjoy dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Tarangire National Park – evening game drive

The first thing today will be enjoying a very delicious breakfast at the hotel, before checking out for the start of the safari to Tarangire national park, crossing the buzzing streets of Arusha city, flourishing vegetation and stunning hills.

You will drive on maram and tarmac road, arriving at the park for lunch and an evening game drive which offers the opportunity of watching the elephants, several antelope species, buffalos and lions among others; stunning landscape and the fascinating sunset. Thereafter, you will proceed to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Game drive and transfer to Serengeti National Park

You will start this day with a delicious breakfast meal very early in the morning, before joining your driver-guide for a 3-4-hour game drive, where you will glance at the stunning landscape, rare bird species, flora and mammals including the herds of elephants, buffalos, lions, wildebeest, zebras, warthogs and Jackson hartebeest among others.

Thereafter, you will return to the lodge to have some refreshment and mouth-watering lunch before checking out of the lodge for a scenic drive to Serengeti national park, while traversing the eye-catching landscape and flora. You will end the day at the lodge with dinner and a nap.

Day 4: Full day game drive

Today, you will exit the lodge after an early morning breakfast for a full day game driver around Serengeti national park, looking out for prey and predators feeding, resting, or hunting in the savanna grassland; birds soaring in the sky, the unique vegetation and the stunning landscape.

The mammals recorded here include among others the wildebeests, zebras, lions, leopards, giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, gazelles, cheetahs, and elands; bird species include the flamingoes, lovebirds and ostriches among others. You will enjoy a picnic lunch, whereas dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 5: Full day cultural experience – Masai villages tour

You will start your fifth day with a yummy breakfast, followed by a visit to the Maasai warriors who have preserved their authentic culture amidst the pressure of modernity. The Masai people are herdsmen, reportedly originating from Sudan and depend on animal products such as milk, blood and meat for livelihood.

You will have a guided village walk where the locals showcase their tools, escort you to their “manyattas” local houses and other attractions; dance to the drumbeat, enjoy songs and stories. There will be eating and all sorts of fun, including purchasing local souvenirs and contributing to other projects in the village.

Day 6: Guided nature walk and depart Serengeti for Ngorongoro Crater – optional game drive

At dawn, after the last sip of coffee from your cup, there will be a guided nature walk around some of the scenic spots for about 2-3 hours, after which you will return to the lodge for an early lunch and then a transfer to Ngorongoro crater for another two days of fresh and exciting adventure. The drive is so exciting, with so many jaw-dropping sceneries, and rolling hills to look out for.

Day 7: Hike to the crater rim and game drive 

Upon sunrise, you will greet your taste glands with a hefty cup of coffee, before heading for a three – four hours’ top of the crater hike, which offers a very fine opportunity of photography, closer exploration of the largest caldera on earth and watching several mammals, birds and primates in their hideouts, such as Africa’s big 5 mammals namely; lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffalos.

After the hike, you will have a picnic lunch, followed by a rewarding 3-4 hour evening game drive which offers a chance of encountering predators and prey resting or feeding. The mammals you should expect to spot include the gazelles, elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, zebras and antelopes among others, besides the stunning landscape, unique bird species, and the rare tree species. Thereafter, you will have a sunset drive to the lodge for dinner and a nap.

Day 8: Optional visit to Olduvai Gorge and Departure

At day break, you will have an optional visit to the famous Olduvai Gorge after breakfast, before proceeding to the airport for a flight to the next destination or your hotel in the city.
